As we headed out on our last short trip of the season, the American Angler family wasn't quite sure what was in store for this trip and if an albacore was going to be seen in our fish count and we had our work cut out for us with the wind coming up.
A Dorado jig strike at daylight followed with a different kind of bait fish set a
head turning tone right out the gate - just like that - we were on the board for the 2012 season with an albacore!
We weren't sure what this meant for the day, then a few more jig strikes and bait fish gave us a grand total of 11 Albacore for the day and a bonus kelp of 45 mix bluefin, yellowfin, and dorado at the end of the day helped and added even bigger smiles to the gang.
Birthday boy Brian Vano and Father Bill display one of these beautiful 25-40lb albacore that was brought aboard. Our other stud of the day, nine year old Tyler Babros pulls on his first albacore ever assisted by captain Cam.
Tyler caught all three species of the day, albacore, yellowfin and bluefin on his first offshore trip ever.
Goodnight,
The boys

Not a lot happened in the morning today, so we motored back to our honey hole and had 2 lucky good stops and then it was a plunker drift for the rest of the day. We finished the day with 15 bigger models (40 - 48lb bluefin) and 60 smaller grade tuna (average 14 - 16lbs) which was only shown up by the perfect ride home. Everyone had plenty of fish and thanks to all for coming out! Pictured is...... Read More
