Yesterday the entire fleet that was fishing the lower yellowfin tuna grounds had great fishing. When we woke up this morning it seemed like a no brainer that we would be busy this morning, but we were counting our chickens before they hatched.
By 8 in the morning we were still skunked and it quickly became 2 in the afternoon and we were still fish less. Literally we were just about out of time when we got on a bluefin deal and scratched about 35 fish, which didn't totally heal the wound but it sure helped stop the bleeding.
Today's photos are of the 5 older patriarchs of the James Gang Hardware trip and a couple of the younger guys, showing off their mustaches.

It's tough when planning a fishing trip to know when "it's the best time to go". Pretty much the only solution is to just... go.... because it is impossible to know about the weather, fish behavior, and all the other variables involved. Today was another one of those lucky days where it all came together as we enjoyed great weather and steady fishing. Morris Beliakoff and Ray give us an example of the better grade fish and John Samarin shows his...... Read More
