The offshore thing sure has been up and down all year. Most of it has been dependent on the weather - whenever it is windy it's been down and then the fish come up when it's flat. Today was kind of a in between day where the weather was coming down but we did not see very much fish. What little sign of bluefin we did see would just boil a little and was very reluctant to bite. Plan b was yellows on kelps but with the very heavy overcast marine layer the kelps were very hard to find.
Although stops were very few and far between, we did catch a few fish such as our annual picture of the three generations of the Leitner family where grandpa Dan showed off his fishing skills and landed one of today's 2 bait fish tuna.

After a tough day on the offshore grounds, we were all ready to blow off some steam and enjoy steady fishing. We woke up to good weather and the fish did not disappoint and were eager to cooperate. Not only were the fish frisky, but the grade of yellowtail was a respectable 18-25lbs and very chunky. Pictured is Mas Nakamura, assisted by Bobby Kiso, with his token white seabass.
