Shasta Lake on the rise!
2-16-2019
Jeff Goodwin
Shasta Lake is currently less than 50' feet from full pool and rising a few feet daily! Thats a lot of water since November when we were sitting near the 100' below the dam crest. The lake is in good shape and we're looking at a great year of fishing ahead! Currently the bass fishing is very good and the trout fishing is on the edge of the spring brown trout fishing bonanza! We'll start to see some of the biggest browns of the year in our nets any day now. This is my favorite time of the year for brown trout fishing because they are full bodied, silver sided, and aggressive! The big rainbows have been taking Optimizer spoons and Bay Rat long shallow stick baits along with the occasional big brown. We've been catching a few of the King salmon that were planted in October now and although they are small, its a glimpse into the future King salmon fishing Shasta will have to offer again in the coming years. Its time to get your Shasta Lake fishing trip scheduled!
