Field Trip to Feather River College Fish Hatchery

1-8-2019
Big Daddy

Hey guys and gals, if you haven’t already seen this here is a summary of our field trip to the FRC fish hatchery.  I think this is one of the coolest things AFA is engaged in.  Striking up working partnerships with outside organizations to bring more fish to Lake Almanor.

Today 15 AFA volunteers went on a field trip to Feather River College. Hatchery Director Adam Fuller provided us with a great tour of his facility and introduced us to our newly hatched 50,000 fertile Brown trout.  The Browns will eventually be released into Lake Almanor.
This project began in October when Adam brought students to Lake Almanor to assist in the delivery of the AFA pen fish.  Plumas County Biologist Amber Mouser facilitated the meeting and has assisted in all aspects of this partnership.
AFA will work with Adam, purchase food as needed and we will schedule a work party this spring to clean up grounds, install pea gravel and perform other tasks as needed.
AFA would like to acknowledge and thank California Fish & Wildlife, the Shasta Fish Hatchery, Biologist Amber Mouser, FRC Hatchery Director Adam Fuller and Feather River College. And of course to AFA's dedicated volunteers.
