Shasta Lake winter rainbows!
1-5-2019
Jeff Goodwin
Today we fished Shasta Lake in a very cold and wet winter weather pattern. The day started off a bit slow, but we kept our gear where it needed to be and it paid off. We lost a few heart breakers, but by days end we had some great fish stories to tell. Great day with a great group of hard working and passionate anglers! I started the day with a plan to fish Jones Valley, but made a last second left turn into the McCloud Arm. That split second decision paid off and we caught some great trout. We started off with a fast troll and after zero bites and 51 degree water, I switched gears and slowed things down. Right away, the Bay Rats took a beating and took center stage for the remainder of the day. I'm guessing we'll see some good fishing this week with this wet weathern pattern. I guess we'll see!
