Fishing remains excellent and the "catchin' action" is even better right now in Big Bear Lake.
The trout bite is wide open as we approach the "Holiday Season" in the Big Bear Valley. Lake temps are 44 to 45 degrees top to bottom and dissolved oxygen is well within favorable levels Lake wide (10 to 12 ppm).
With most of the private marinas closed for the 2018 season the West public launch ramp is open until November 30th.
Shoreline Anglers want to be out there bright and early to get in on the bite.
The North Shore is consistently producing beautiful fish from the Buoy Line East to the West public launch ramp on chartreuse garlic and salmon egg power bait. Big Bear Lake's popular trolling circuits are also yielding some nice trout in the 2 to 6 pound range. Running 1 to 3 colors and Towing a needlefish or Garden Hackle on a wedding ring will almost guarantee you'll be serving up some fresh rainbow trout for dinner.
Daytime temps in the Big Bear Valley are running in the 50s and nighttime lows are in the low twenties so dress appropriately and when you're out on the shoreline expect the winds to pick up around 10 a.m. That usually squelches the bite till early afternoon when the wind starts to let up
and the bite picks up again.
