Christine Guaylianone was chartermistress on the five-day Angler's Choice charter aboard American Angler. Sam Patella docked the boat at Pt. Loma Sportfishing August 13 and weighed the catch made by his 25 anglers.

"He slammed that green mackerel the second it touched the water," said jackpot winner Eric Newby of San Carlos. His 41.8-pound yellowtail slurped the bait pinned on a 2/0 Flyliner hook, tied to 30-pound Blackwater fluorocarbon leader and 30-pound Big Game line. He said he used an Accurate 870 two-speed reel and a Loomis seven-foot rod.

Regular angler Dennis Saylors won second place for a 37.4-pound yellow, and Izorline pro-staffer Eric Seko of La Palma took third place for a 34.4-pounder yellowtail.
