Del Valle Fishing Report

Del Valle Marina
The water temperature and the lake level has been dropping with the temperature has been in the mid to low 60s. The striped bass boils have died off, but they are still feeding on bait mostly anchovies near the dam. If you are here in the early morning there are a few smaller schools running in heron bay swimbaits are a good lure to use with forktailed rubber flukes being a reliable one. The small and largemouth bass are going into a feeding frenzy before they go dormant for the winter nightcrawlers are a good bait to use slow reeling them in. The largemouth are feeding on the top with topwater spooks being a good bet rubber worms are also slamming them on the rock points in the deeper water. The smallmouth bite has been insane with small paddletail swimbaits and kastmasters hooking up with fish consistently the beaches in the upper narrows are a good place to start also in the various coves the are starting to dry out. The Catfish bite has been doing well too with many of them getting caught in the mouths of coves in swallow and heron bay anchovies or mackerel are the best baits to use out here. The trout bite has begun the pickup with many anglers catching them along the east beach shoreline the trout seem to be feeding near the shore we got another 1000-pound plant this last week although the bite will continue to get better as the temperature drops.
