Fun offshore angling for school size yellowfin today with plenty of skipjack in the mix. The poke buckets were brimming full by the end. Long drift style fishing made for abundant rail time as we floated along collecting fish around us while picking them off one, two, and three at a time. Employing the old bag of tricks we were able to weed through the determined, voracious jack and accumulate a good score of yellowfin by day’s end.

Close enough to run for cover the evening ultimately found us tucked up tight against the lee side of an island enjoying the sights and sounds while breaking down our tackle, cleaning up, and enjoying our traditional final night prime rib feast in flat calm style. Closing the book on this excellent Sept three day run we are incredibly grateful for good timing that led to a catch of tremendous quality, variety, and plenty sufficient quantity. Trophy bluefin, beautiful grade yellowtail, and school size yellowfin tuna packed an incredible amount of fishing time and variety into this “mini” long range run.

Photos today feature Joseph Xavier and Patrick Aguirre with matching 172 pound trophy bluefin they landed on the flat fall jigs two nights back
