Outstanding Sand Bass Fishing & Week/Weekend Schedule.
Sand bass bite gets even better with Patriot getting limits by 10 am this morning (Tuesday July 29) or 300 sand bass for 30 anglers. They are now looking for barracuda and may head a little offshore as kelp paddies are holding yellowtail and dorado. It will be interesting to see what their final count is for today.
The Nautilus had 253 sand bass on their morning ?? day trip this morning. Water is clean blue and 70 degrees. Bait is anchovy and sardine.
I went out Monday afternoon on the Nautilus's pm ?? day trip and ended up with 8 sand bass to 4 pounds, 1 short halibut, and lots hooking and unintentional releasing (little rusty). We had great sardine and limited amount of anchovy for Monday's trip. With fresh anchovy from our bait boat today, trips are doing really well on the sand bass. Jackpot for Monday's afternoon trip was an 8 pound barracuda. Current was light and 2 oz torpedo sinker was the hot setup, although with more anchovy to chum with the ?? ounce slider setup would also do well. Really fun fishing with lots of action.
Here is Newport Landing Sportfishing's schedule for the remainder of this week & weekend (Weds July 30-Weds August 6).
The Amigo has open party overnight trips fishing Friday (August 1). Limited to only 18 anglers at $170. They will be fishing for yellowtail and White Sea bass more than likely at San Clemente Island or possible offshore. A rare Friday open party overnight trip for the Amigo should be a fun one. Currently 9 spots open.
The Amigo is leaving tonight on a 976-tuna 2 day charter and it sounds like they will be going offshore for albacore tuna, yellowfin tuna, yellowtail, and dorado for the first day. The only have 8 anglers but they are going regardless. I know it is last minute but if you are interested this should be a really light 2 day trip. Limited to 16 anglers at $350. Just give us a call if interested.
The Aggressor has an open party overnight trip leaving Weds night (July 30) fishing Thursday (July 31). Limited to 18 anglers at $170. Currently 10 spots open.
The Aggressor has an open party overnight trip leaving Monday night (August 4) to fish Tuesday (August 5). Limited to 18 anglers at $170. Currently 13 spots open.
The Ultra has an open party 1 ?? day offshore tuna trip fishing Thursday (July 31). Limited to 9 anglers at $300. Prospects looks good for tuna along with kelp paddy yellowtail, and even dorado. Departs at 9pm tomorrow night. Currently 6 spots open.
