New Melones

Kokanee fishing was good this week! As the moon phases becomes more favorable for daytime fishing. The first few hours of daylight was the best bite and it tapered off by mid morning. The Koks are hanging out between Glory Hole point and the spillway 80 to 115 feet deep. The larger Koks are preparing for their spawn and we are seeing mostly males. Were using Uncle Larry's copper pop and purple green spinners, Kevorkian Apex, and purple Marni Bugs behind Vance's nickel dodger. Our corn scent is Pro-Cures UV freshwater shrimp.

Pro-Cure fresh water shrimp was our corn...... Read More

Very good Kokanee action for fish in the 171/2 to 181/2 inch range. Were also seeing a lot of immature koks 6 to 10 inches. The secret is to fish deep, work the structure, and use large lures. The larger fish are suspended 80 to 90 feet deep, between the spillway and the dam. Green and firetigger Apex, Uncle Larry's green perch, Glidderbugs green firetigger behind Vance's nickel green dodgers. This combination will help catch bigger fish...... Read More
