29 inches bait of choice: Anchovies

Davis Dam Fishing Report

Rusty

Below the Davis Dam and along the casino area there have been some stripers being pulled in.  Further down stream in the rotary park area we have Bill Arnold showing off a nice catch of some line side he landed while fishing from shore using anchovies.  Rotary Park is a great spot so shows Megan Molloy with a nice 7.38 pound striper at 29 inches.  Yes she was using the bait of choice anchovies.  There are other types of bait to try although anchovies works well.  A good tip try some bait wrap thread to help hold your bait on the hook longer and it makes it harder for the smaller fish to get your bait with out getting hooked.  I will try and get an update on our next trout plant which should be coming up soon as our weather is going to cool I think?  In the meantime we need you anglers out there catching the stripers to protect the trout as this last stocking was to help with the caddis fly issue.  These fish are on the small side but with big appetites and they will grow fast. Our next stocking will have some nice catchable size rainbow trout.
