Montana Has Trout, But We Have Kings

7-18-2018
Herb Tennell

Montana may have world-class trout, but we've got the king of all fish: Chinook. Salmon have a unique life cycle and are known as anadromous fish, meaning they start their life as small fry in the graveling streams along the Pacific Northwest. Salmon then head to the open ocean to complete their adulthood before returning to their same home stream to spawn and ultimately die.

Decades of work on our end has gone into researching, scouting, mapping, and recording where Sitka's salmon are during their annual summer and fall runs. It's a game of constant cat and mouse -- or, in our case, fisherman and fish. It's a game that we love sharing with our friends like the Wagner family from Montana.
