Del Valle Fishing Report

7-15-2018
Del Valle Marina

Al Hurwitz of Saratoga and Jim Wolfe of Los Altos trolled the lake on 7/12/18 looking mainly for Smallmouth Bass. We caught 12 Smallies and one Bluegill. There were at least 4-5 other strikes which didn't stay pinned. Pictured here is Jim with a nice 1.5 lb. Smallmouth. Most of the fish were caught in Swallow Bay and the opposite shore. They were about 15 feet below the surface in a 20-25 foot water column. We used 1/4 oz feathered Panther Martins and applied scent to the lures. The water was quite clear with a surface temperature of 76-77 degrees. Finally, the Smallies are hitting!

expect this pattern to continue over the next 2-3 months. To catch them, look for clear water, points, wind swept shorelines, and fish over structure particularly gravel and rock. A very good day! As always, the staff were very helpful. All the best, Dr. Al
