We departed on the annual Newell 5 day trip. After getting what appears to be a nice load of bait we cleared Point Loma at 1430 hrs. and headed south. We had our safety talk and tackle seminar on offshore fishing all rolled into one and by 1900 hrs. We had jigs in the water looking for to get the skunk off the boat. Right at dark we got into an area of bait and had one stop for 8 Albacore tuna, the trip is started. We will be trying for Albacore, Bluefin tuna tomorrow and take it from here, weather is good with 12 knots of wind from the west.
