Hot bite daily on Shasta Lake

7-2-2018
Jeff Goodwin

Today we fished Shasta Lake for trout and had a blast!  It was a rod popping, reel screaming kind of day and we had three limits for three anglers by mid day.  Size was average 16"-18" in the morning and as the day wore on, we saw some of the larger fish in the afternoon.  I saw two big schools of shad seperately in the middle of the Sac arm today meaning things are about to get crazy on Shasta!  The warm/cold water split is at about 40' so finding feeding trout in the 35'-45' range is going to be productive.  The trout are everywhere, but trolling points, bays, and then open water in the main body is a good pattern to follow day to day on Shasta Lake to get bites.  If you're not getting bites with this information, you're missing the small things and its making a big difference.  Depth + speed + presentation = Fish on!
