Summer-like weather patterns have now arrived on the Sacramento-SanJoaquin Delta waterways, but that shouldn’t dissuade you from going out and wetting a line. For your information there are still good numbers of striped bass and sturgeon plying the waterways and the numbers having success have been very good lately along with good numbers of American shad being caught in the American, Feather and Yuba rivers, especially in the evening hours.

Striped bass to over 20 pounds showing east of the Antioch Bridge for trollers dragging deep and shallow Yo-Zuri Crystal Minnows and bait dunkers tossing fresh thread fin shad. The best action is taking place on the shallow sand bar in front of Eddo’s harbor and rv park off Sherman Island. Even live bait drifters getting into the action using minnows and blue gill perch. Some two-fish limits reported by field scouts. The striped bass fishing in False River on outgoing tides and the mouth of Three Mile Slough have also been producing some decent catches lately. Be advised, the best action taking place on outgoing tides. In the Suisun Baythe sturgeon action continues to be very good here last Sunday. Captain Zach Medinas of Gate Crasher Fishing adventures wrapped up his season with a great trip. On this day he totaled 15 sturgeon composed of 2 over-sized, 10 slot limit fish along with 2 shakers. The best bait continues to be salmon roe and grass shrimp. Even on windy days the fishing has been good fishing on incoming tides.
The Wild West Bass Trials Tournament out of Big Break Marina took place weekend before last weekend. With 146 boats out on the water the team of Carter and Gregory Troughton posted a 7-fish limit weighing 38-68 pounds with the big fish at 8.97 pounds. Overall, a 3 pound average was enough to cash a check during the one-day event
