The Golden Gate Salmon Association (GGSA), a coalition of salmon advocates working to protect and restore California’s largest salmon runs, today announced its inaugural GGSA Fish Like A Girl salmon fishing trip.

GGSA event planner Cat Kaiser said, “Ladies, you can catch your next dinner (and maybe your neighbors’ and friends’ too) with other Golden Gate Salmon Girls, on Friday, August 17th aboard the Salty Lady charter boat out of Sausalito. We’ll have a lot of fun. This comfortable charter boat is fully equipped with all rods, tackle, nice restroom, and plenty of space and help on board to fish.”

GGSA will provide you with brunch food throughout the day, adult and non-alcoholic beverages, fun GGSA gear, a new or updated GGSA membership, and of course great prizes.  Tickets are $100.  GGSA’s event planner Cat Kaiser will be along to make sure everyone has a good time and to share some of the excitement she gets from salmon fishing.

Whether you have caught many salmon in your life or you just want to experience the thrill and excitement of catching your first fish, this is a day to enjoy the beautiful San Francisco waters, great food and beverage, and other women who all want to catch a salmon dinner to share with friends and family (not to mention the great photo opportunities that come with a day on the ocean).

When: Friday, August 17th, 2018
Where: Salty Lady, 310 Harbor Dr, Sausalito, CA 94965
Time: Arrive at 5:30am, boat leaves at 6:00am-3:30pm (end time may vary)

Tickets are $100 and can be bought through goldengatesalmon.org on the Events page. Space is limited.

“GGSA works to restore Central Valley salmon, the Bay-Delta ecosystem, and communities that rely on salmon,” said Kaiser. “Salmon recovery is GGSA’s passion and we’re thrilled to be able to get a bunch of new and experienced ladies out for a day of salmon fishing.”

The Golden Gate Salmon Association is a coalition of salmon advocates that includes commercial and recreational salmon fisherman, businesses, restaurants, a native tribe, environmentalists, elected officials, families and communities that rely on salmon. GGSA’s mission is to protect and restore California’s largest salmon producing habitat comprised of the Central Valley river’s that feed the Bay-Delta ecosystem and the communities that rely on salmon as a long-term, sustainable, commercial, recreational and cultural resource.

Currently, California’s salmon industry is valued at $1.4 billion in economic activity annually and about half that much in economic activity and jobs again in Oregon in a normal season. The industry employs tens of thousands of people from Santa Barbara to northern Oregon. This is a huge economic bloc made up of commercial fishermen, recreational fishermen (fresh and salt water), fish processors, marinas, coastal communities, equipment manufacturers, the hotel and food industry, tribes, and the salmon fishing industry at large.
