Fish finally on the move!
6-18-2018
Jim Elias
Water temps in the upper 60's across the lake. Algae is starting to grow fast now. Lake is pretty green from Sandy Point North.
Rod Size: #4-#6 Weights
Tippet Size: 3-5X
Dries: Don't Bother
Nymphs: Red Baron Large, Copper Tiger Large, Shaft Emerger Large, Copper Zebra Midge #16, Jensen's Callibaetis #16
Streamers: Leeches
Water temps are on the rise, so the fish are slowly moving out of the deep into shallow stream channels in McGee and the Upper Owens channel in the North arm. Water temps are moving into the upper 60's all over the lake, which has the algae going crazy. It's building fast from about Sandy Point all the way to the Owens River inlet. Still lots of small fish in Crooked, Whiskey, Beaver and Big Hilton, with the occasional sizable fish thrown in there. Things should start to get really good as soon as the bulk of these fish move into the channels. When that happens, make sure you get out there early to grab your spot. Otherwise if you're late to the game you'll be stuck out deep while the rest of the fleet is in the channel.
