We Bought the Last of the Mt Lassen Catfish.
6-3-2018
San Pablo Reservoir Staff
Al Hurwitz of Saratoga and Abbey Lev of Sunnyvale trolled the reservoir on 5/31/18. We caught one small Spotted Bass and around a dozen Rainbow Trout, mostly small ones (DFG plants) which we released. However, we managed to keep three very nice Mt. Lassen Rainbows, the largest around 1.5 lbs. Most of the strikes were South of Sandy Point trolling a variety of colored Kastmasters around 15-20 feet below the surface. We applied scent to the lures. The water clarity is now much improved, making trolling more feasible and successful. The surface water temperature is now running around 68 degrees. As the water warms, expect the Trout to go deeper, while the Bass and Catfish move into the shallows, off points and over structure. All the best, Dr. Al Hurwitz
Fish Plant: We bought the last of the Mt Lassen Catfish they are no longer producing them we were expecting between 7,000 and 8,000 lbs. We ended up with 5,517 lbs. sorry for the wrong information I would have never mentioned it if I didn’t think the numbers were correct.
DFW planted 800 lbs of trout at the boat launch on Wednesday 5-30-18.
