The Randy Fry Awards Dinner was held at the Marin Rod & Gun Club on June 14th, 2008 in San Rafael. A dedicated crew of volunteers made the event a success with the best-ever attendance for the annual dinner: Thanks to Red Bartley, Mike Johnson, Mary and Richard Kent, John and Yoriko Hayes, Beth Benson, Tyrus Gerlach, Joe Campi, Anthony and Mike Malone, Dennis Haussler, Lee Hardt, Mike LaRocco, Dave Whittington, Jerry and Jim Pigula, Hugh Chatham, Eugene Porter and all our friends who made this dinner possible!

Ken Jones and Milo Vukovich were honored for their volunteer work as the "Randy Fry Award" winners for 2008. Ken spoke about his experience as a regional stakeholder in the MLPA process, and Milo urged members to sign an online petition to oppose the commercialization of the abalone resource.

John Beuttler, Conservation Director of the California Sportfishing Protection Alliance, gave an inspiring keynote address on the state of the Sacramento delta and San Francisco bay estuaries that provide for many of our fishing opportunities on the west coast. He urged RFA members to show their support of Lois K. Wolk's legislation, AB 1806, to require water projects to mitigate for negative impacts on economically important fisheries like striped bass and salmon.
