Del Valle Fishing Report

2-23-2018
East Bay Regional Park District

GENERAL CONDITIONS

The weather at Del Valle has been beautiful for this time of year. Early mornings in the low-40s with temperatures rising up into the high-60s by midday. The hot bite has been trout with many anglers having success.

CATFISH

Catfish are going to be in deeper water, about 20-25 feet deep. The best baits to use would be anchovies, mackerel, or night crawlers.

TROUT

For trout, most anglers like to use either Powerbait or Powereggs. I would also recommend using either night crawlers or small spinners. Make sure you are fishing shallow sand flats and if you are fishing from a boat, make sure you keep moving.

STRIPED BASS

We have had a few anglers report that they have hooked into some decent sized stripers in the six to nine pound range. With the water level starting to rise at Del Valle, we hope that we will start to see stripers becoming more active.
