Fish Report for 1-17-2018
Shasta's calm before the storm!
1-17-2018
Jeff Goodwin
Today we fished Shasta Lake, and in spite of a dropping barometer with a storm on the horizon, we still managed to catch several trout trolling Mack's Lure Hum Dinger UV Spoons at 2.5 mph. We fished the McCloud arm and found a descent morning bite under overcast skies and absolutely no wind. The lake was glassed over and after the morning bite shut off we had a pretty long gap until we found the last bite of our day. We got a short window of wind on the water and the fish turned on once again. Its gonna be nasty on the water tomorrow, but fishing should be good by Friday. The upper sections of the lake arms are filling with debris with the rising water, so they may not be a great option for trolling for a while. Stay tuned for more Shasta Lake fishing reports after our guided trips or scouting trips as this winter fishery continues.
