Three deuces

A relay from Capt. Brian “Gerbie” Sims revealed a slow start for a handful of fish, then a few more, to a fine day three yesterday when they boated 18. The standout feature is the beautiful grade of yellowfin tuna, most of which are in the 150 - and larger size class. As of yet three have bested the 200 pound mark with a 225 to the credit of long time veteran Bill “Billy Bob” Moore, a hefty 220 for uber veteran Steve Masuda, and a 205 for another staunch Royal Star supporter Jose Arellano. In excellent weather the guys have settled into a routine targeting the exact grade trophy yellowfin tuna that these voyages are so well known for. The inside options are currently slow and/or sharked up so making the most of where they are at makes perfect sense and maximizes fishing time. Aside from one day of bump it appears that the weather gods are favoring the effort currently and through the end of this run. In that respect those very fortunate anglers can not ask for more. I will update again tomorrow as Capt Sims relays the info to me.

Photo for the day features one from the ISSF archives. Thank you again to David Itano.
