Shogun Sportfishing Fish Report
6-10-2008
Bruce A. Smith
Today we arrived at Alijos Rocks mid morning and quickly had a triple jig strike on tuna and skipjack. Jumpers and a lost tuna around 50# gave us hope, but a general lack of current kept fishing slow. Before sunset Bruce moved the Shogun out to Alijos Bank to look for yellows. He ran across a spot of mackerel, and we quickly made 2 tanks of "Yellowtail Candy". Upon anchoring up on the bank it was full speed on 30# yellows. We had some three hours of excellent yellowtail fishing. Soon everyone switched to dead bait as it resulted in an instant hookup, and reached the bottom quicker. It was a great fishing experience. Tomorrow we'll see if there is an early bite on tuna, with the yellowtail fishing waiting for us in the afternoon. The trip is shaping up nicely.
