Hi Everyone,
We started out our morning over coffee and absolutely gorgeous weather. No wind and a flat calm ocean. We got the anchor down right at first light and set up for yellowtail. It didn't take long before we hooked our first fish as we had good conditions right out of the gate. Steady yellowtail fishing took place for the rest of the morning. We had flurries were we got busy with 5 to 7 fish hooked at a time, but most of ther morning was just steady 1 to 3 fish going. The guys on the bow with the surface iron did really well today. The other methods worked also and the sliding egg sinker rig with a nose hooked sardine was equally effective. Most of our fish were 15 to 18 pounds today with some bigger. A great start to our trip! Everyone had a blast. Tonights dinner was a caprese salad, followed with an entree of half roasted chicken, paired with a Beltane Ranch Sauvignon Blanc, and finished with a brownie sunday. It doesn't get much better. Life is good on the Intrepid. We fish for wahoo tomorrow. Wish us luck, Captain Bill Cavanaugh and the Intrepid Team
