Nothing doing on the final morning offshore that left us longing for a strong finish but did not diminish our prior success. In grease calm albeit foggy weather we weren't the most effective looking machine but we covered good water and unfortunately came up nigh blank. A couple of colorful moments were the highlights amidst an easy going morning. So closes the book on this at least eleventh, if not fourteenth annual Mitch Otera charter. Originally a one and a half day, then a three, then a four, and so on we have enjoyed well over a decade of fishing with most of these exceptional individuals. For this voyage, and all those prior, the ownership team of Randy, Tracy, Brian, myself and crew alike express our sincerest appreciation and gratitude.

This voyage featured an excellent mix of action, production, variety, quantity, and quality. Aside from the last morning bust it is noteworthy that the trip unfolded almost exactly as we planned. Loading up on the inside set the move outside in motion providing this fortunate group the opportunity to experience Isla Guadalupe and mix in a little trophy yellowfin tuna fishing.

Now Captain Brian “Gerbie” Sims takes the helm piloting the annual Labor Day, seven day voyage. With Bluefin calling offshore from the west, and the remnants of Tropical Storm Lidia barreling up the coast the stage is set for the guys to hang tight on the local grounds until the all clear is given. Look for Brian's reports and photos to continue tomorrow and beyond.

Final voyage photos feature Royal Star angler Billy Bull with his 160 pound trophy of the trip, and Royal Star angling legend Terry Uchida with his prized, well earned baitfish landed on the fly lined sardine.

If you would like to go fishing with us please BOOK ONLINE or call (619) 224-4764 to get in on the action.
