Channel Islands Sportfishing
Good fishing again today for Yellowtail but the Sea Lions are getting really bad. Unable to shake them, many of our boats had to either pick up and drive away from biting fish or simply give up and target Rockfish. Taking too many baits and even stealing whole fish away from an angler that fought the fish all the way to the boat. The Yellowtail are considerably bigger than the ones we were catching last week too, so it’s much harder to get them to the boat. At least with the smaller Yellows we would power them in before a Sea Lion could take it from us. It was still a great weather day and the fishing was good for at least the morning hours. Win some and loose some, and tomorrow is a new day!
Today’s Fish Count: 10 Boats and 184 Anglers.
1,103 Rockfish, 57 Lingcod, 331 Whitefish, 11 Sheephead, 12 Sculpin, 2 Barracuda, 22 Calico Bass, and 61 Yellowtail.
