Fish Report for 7-29-2017
Central Oregon Coast nearshore halibut closes Sunday night (July 30)
7-29-2017
ODFW
The Central Oregon Coast Subarea (Cape Falcon to Humbug Mt.) nearshore recreational Pacific halibut season will be closing at 11:59 pm on Sunday, July 30. The quota is anticipated to be met at that time.
Excellent weather for much of the summer so far has allowed many anglers to get out fishing for nearshore halibut, often with successful trips. The closure is necessary to prevent the allocation from being exceeded.
There are other halibut fishing opportunities along Oregon’s coast:
- The Central Oregon Coast Subarea summer all-depth season will open Friday, Aug 4 and Saturday Aug 5; and may then be open every other Friday and Saturday until Oct. 31 or attainment of the quota.
- The Southern Oregon Subarea halibut fishery remains open 7-days per week until Oct. 31, or attainment of the quota.
Halibut sport fishery regulations can be found online.
