Fish Report for 7-23-2017

Cisco’s Report: Sunday July 23rd

7-23-2017
Channel Islands Sportfishing

Sunday we had a change in the weather as the air temperature took a dip and we had overcast skies all day, which made for pleasant fishing conditions. As for fishing, most of our charter groups wanted to go bottom fishing but some opted for looking for game fish. We did have a few Yellowtail and Barracuda caught today, but many were lost to sea lions, tangles or break-offs. Calico Bass fishing is very good right now and a solid alternative to going Rockfishing. With that said however, nothing is as productive as catching quality Rockfish and other bottom species like Sheephead, Lingcod and Whitefish at the Channel Islands. Overall, it was a good day of fishing with everyone coming home with a nice bag of fish. Today’s Fish Count: 11 Boats and 322 Anglers. 1,918 Rockfish, 28 Sculpin, 334 Whitefish, 49 Lingcod, 28 Sheephead, 2 Sole, 2 Halibut, 1 Sand Bass, 71 Calico Bass, 28 Barracuda, 5 Bonito, and 29 Yellowtail.
