(San Diego) Greg Pregler's Pacific Quest is ready to power into the spring-summer fishing season with skipper Josh Walton at the helm.

"She's been totally re-outfitted, to 2008 standards," said Greg in April. "She's a 57 by 17-foot Nordlund built in Tacoma, a full walkaround boat with stainless steel rails, and she can take 12 fishermen. You can't crowd this boat with that many anglers."

Almost everything aboard Pacific Quest is new, rebuilt or refitted. With two heads and a shower, overnight trips are a specialty, but the boat can stay out to fish any length of time from a half-day to two full days.

Power comes from two Detroit 8V-92 diesels and two generators, one a 21 KW and the other a 6 KW backup. PQ's bait capacity is 80 to 100 scoops, and she sports a six-ton RSW fish hold, to keep the catch sushi-fresh.

Up in the wheelhouse a full set of new electronics aids in fish-finding and safety for passengers. Westmar side-scanning sonar, a complete navigation system with radar, radios and NavTex weather reporting are some of the instruments that make this a very up-to-date sport fisher.

"We've got fire detection all over the boat, and a new CO2 system to handle any emergency," noted owner Pregler.

Also new are the 12 custom-designed bunks, built to accommodate larger anglers. The galley is a glory of new gear.

"We've got a whole new galley," said Greg, "including grills ovens and ventilation. We also have very comfortable booth seating."

Charter dates for the newly-outfitted Pacific Quest are filling, but a few dates remain available, including eight open party dates. Rental tackle is also available. The boat has a web site at www.Questsportfishing.com.
