Big Bones and great Cod-Fishing at Cisco's

3-18-2017
Channel Islands Sportfishing

Saturday’s trips were loaded and ready to enjoy some solid fishing at the Channel Islands and surrounding coastal areas. The weather was good for most of the day with little to no wind. The morning started out with fog blanketing the entire coast but as the day progressed the sun burned through and warmed things up considerably. Catching bottom fish like Lingcod, Whitefish and of course Rockfish was our goal but a few boats investigated a rumor going around about there being big Bonito at the oil rigs. Fishing a couple of the local rigs, some of our full day boats were able to hook and land some big bonito. These “bones” were in the 5 to 8 pound range and biting both live bait and small jigs. As for today’s bottom fishing it was as good as it gets for most. Good quality Rockfish and some big Sheephead came up. All around, fun and productive fishing for everyone that came out on this Saturday! Still a lot of spaces available for boats fishing Sunday. Even a hand full of openings on our limited load full day trips which are normally sold out by now. Give us a call or go online and book tickets yourself anytime. Don’t miss out on this great weather and solid fishing here at the Channel Islands! Today’s Fish Count: 11 boats and 284 anglers. 2,488 Assorted Rockfish, 284 Ocean Whitefish, 164 Lingcod, 2 Cabezon, 1 Sole, 2 Sculpin, 10 Sheephead, 1 Calico Bass and 24 Bonito.
