The Humboldt Bay Bar has a reputation for being a very challenging, even dangerous place to pass through. Author Tom Marking makes this point in his article, Crossing the Bar at Humboldt Bay, posted in MyOutdoorBuddy.com.
Attempting to drive down the north jetty at the Humboldt Bay Bar with waves crashing over the side can be just as dangerous, beyond comprehension even, but sometimes harebrained ideas trump logic. Water, benign in a drinking glass, can swamp your boat, destroy a seaside, and definitely float your car..
The force of water is incredible, and once you've felt its power, you will never take it for granted again. Click on the video link below, and next time you're out on the water, or driving along the Humboldt Bay's North Jetty, remember, you can't control Mother Nature!
