Off to the races here heading south with a nice load of sardines. Leaving behind the cold, rain, and snow the first few days of this journey will be spent in prepartation mode reacquainting ourselves with the many colorful characters on the annual “Las Rocas” 12/15 day charter. Encouraging potential beckons below in the form of quality yellowfin tuna and wahoo. But before we engage in the long awaited battle's with trophy yellowfin tuna's all must settle in to the “ship's” routine. In travel mode this entails plenty of eating, relaxing, imbibing (if one cares to do so), and unwinding. The right mindset is essential to success in any kind of fishing. In this respect the “pre-fishing” stage of the “Las Rocas” voyage is all about establishing bonds that carry over to the time spent elbow to elbow at the rail. The time out here among friends old and new is what we all make of it. With their long history of success on voyages dating back to 2008 these exceptional individuals have struck the magic combo many a time. For the next eleven days my sole objective is to keep the tradition alive. Daily updates and fishing photos will commence now.
