Yellowtail on the Dominator
1-9-2017
Big Hungry
The Dominator returned on Sunday from their first 1.5 day trip of 2017 with 73 Yellowtail and 100 mixed Rockfish & Lingcod for 20 passengers. The Yellowtail were in the 15-25 lb range with several standouts going 30+ pounds. The fish were eager to bite the blue and white heavy yoyo iron, with the Salas 7x being the best jig for the job fished. We also had a handful of Yellowtail taken on live bait with a one ounce sliding sinker, fished on 30# to 40# line. Several anglers also scored 10lb to 15lb Lingcod on the dropper loop with a sardine or on the jigs. This weekends trip is a definite go and we look forward to seeing you out with us!
Suggested tackle:
A 30lb to 40lb outfit for fishing a live bait
A 40lb to 60lb outfit for fishing a yoyo jig (Reel should have a high gear ratio)
An assortment of yoyo jigs (Salas 6xjr, 6x, 7x, Tady 4/0's or Shimano Flat Fall lures)
16oz torpedo sinkers for fishing Rockfish and Lingcod
