Sept. 20 fishing report from Derrick Franks of the Striper Snatcher Guide Service:

Fishing is unbelievable right now. I'm finding giant schools of striped bass mixed with white bass in the river channel of the main lake. The dropping water has flushed a great number of fish in the 50-70 foot mark in the main lake. These fish are moving in the artery of the lake and can be seen on downscan if your patient and you know what you’re looking for. I focus on trees at this depth because I know at first light the pelagic fish will work cohesively to manipulate the oversized shad that are living in those trees.

I'm using a 5 inch, 6 ounce Trendsetter Jig (www.trendsetterjigs.com) in white with a yellow tail. In the a.m., the north wind is about 15 mph and I want something that gets down there before the fish are gone. The 3 inch size is also a good option for a lighter setting.
