West Walker River Fishing Report
10-9-2016
Jim Reid
The West is of course still running low and clear but still kicking out some good fish. It's not automatic up there so you'll need to do some hiking most days to find where those fish are hanging out in the deeper pools. Sometimes you might come across several pools that are not holding any fish then the next one will be loaded with fish, you just have to search them out and sneak up on them as best you can. We've had some good reports both from the canyon section and the Pickle Meadow section. Bait anglers are probably doing the best with salmon eggs and crawlers. Lure anglers are going with Panther Martins and rooster tails. Fly anglers are going with prince nymphs, pheasant tails, soft hackles, wooly buggers and small matukas.
