East Walker River Fishing Report
10-9-2016
Jim Reid
The flows on the East have been bouncing around a bit this week, it's back up to about 49 cfs today from a low of about 23. The temps are good though the water clarity isn't optimal. The fishing has been pretty tough on the California side though we're getting some decent reports from the Nevada side of the river. Most anglers are reporting 1 to 3 fish per day on the California side while the Nevada reports are more in the 3 to 6 fish per day range. Most of the fish seem to be in the 12 to 15 inch range with a few taping at around 20. The caddis are all but gone so it's mainly small midge patterns that are working as well as some streamers. Again, the fishing has been pretty tough so you'll need to be on your game right now. Patterns to try include: rainbow warrior, dark lord, flashback emerger, micro mayfly, top secret midge, san juan worm, micro stonefly, zuddler, sculpzilla, dead drift crayfish and double bunny.
