Bass: ??Day by day the bass have been increasingly moving into the shallows. Most reports have bass in 10 ??? 30 feet of water. Underspins, chattebaits, tube jigs, and drop rigged purple or green plastic worms have all enticed the largemouth. Reports have varied tremendously leading to no guaranteed spots, so it is great time to learn the lake. Steve Moreford of Oceanside got a 6.58 pound bass fishing in the amrina with a spinnerbait at 20 feet. Mark Harkless of Beaumont got a 4.17 pound bass fishing the west dam with a floating swimbait. Shawn Cooly of Quail Valley got a 24 pound limit in one hour fishing with Cool baits allover the lake. Bob Stevens of Glendale fished DVL twice this week getting a 25 pound limit the biggest at 7.5 pounds his first day and three bass totaling 23 pounds with a big fish weighing 10 pounds his second day using senkos, but would not surrender his fishing spots.

Trout: ??The trout bite has changed hands this week with boaters dominating over shore anglers. Boaters were achieving trout limits mainly trolling from the surface down to 30 feet. Jointed Rapalas or nightcrawlers combined with flashers were the best choices. The marina the east dam and the north shore were the hottest trolling areas. Shore anglers saw that nightcrawlers, Powerbait, or mini jigs combined with a trout worm trailer generated the best success. Two year old Aiden Atchison of Riverside got a 4 pound trout trolling a nightcrawler flasher combo on the north shore. Eleven year old Nikki Risco of Sun City got a 6.1 pound trout fishing the west dam with a nightcrawler dropped to 25 feet. Doug Metten of Fallbrook got a 3.5 pound holdover trout trolling a Needlefish at 35 feet on the east dam.

Striper: The few overcast mornings this week provided optimum conditions for some good striper fishing . Shore anglers have had the majority of luck . Trout swim baits, Plugs or large topwater baits were the most reported lures for striper. Fishing points near the marina or on the inlet remain proven spots for boaters. John Sexenian of Northridge got a 13.57 pound striper fishing the first point of shoreline with a Zplug. Mike Southerland of Fontana got a 20 pound striper fishing the south shore with a ZPlug.

Catfish: Great spots for catfish are the third cove of shoreline fishing, and near the east dam or wave attenuator. The most effective baits included anchovies, mackerel, and raw shrimp. Most catfish have been found on the bottom in 25 - 50 feet.

Panfish: There were few panfish reports this week, but most anglers have the best luck fishing along the dams, specifically near the stairways. Anglers have found that fishing 20 -30 feet off the dams using live worm dropped to 25 feet has been a consistent method. Mike Collins of San Jacinto got a 1.5 pound blue gill fishing with an ice jig in the middle of the lake.

Lake Record Striper November 11, 2005: Art Berry of Hemet; 29.77 lb. striper caught at East Dam using swimbait.

Lake Record Largemouth Bass March 16th 2007: DVL would like to congratulate Mike Long of Poway who became the new Largemouth bass record holder this week with a 16.43 pound bass. He was fishing the west dam with a 6" "Real Trout" Rago swimbait.

Lake Record Crappie: 3.0 pounds landed by Keith Thomas. He was fishing with shad.

Lake Record Blue Gill: John Arganda, of?? Menifee, broke the lake pan fish record by bringing in a 3.06 pound blue gill. He got it on a night crawler fishing near the saddle dam.

Lake Record Catfish January 19, 2007: Congratulations to Doug Hagadorn of Valley Center! He caught a 32.80 pound catfish. He was fishing at 60 feet with a Pig N' Jig around the first island on the north shore.

Lake Record Trout, March 12, 2005: Shawn Luhmann got a 11.30 pound rainbow trout on on the shoreline fishing area.
