Very good fishng today beginning as a steady scratch mid morning that escalated into action as good as we wanted it to be by early afternoon. And it stayed that way until just before dark. In the end the fish outlasted the anglers. Completely spent after reefing on 60 – 120 pound yellowfin for 8 hours straight most anglers were self medicating when happy hour came around cheering on the last gluttons for punishment while they blissfully suffered through consequences of daring to toss one last bait. Just how we like it. Now that the previous day's conseternation about the lack of tuna sign is temporarily assuaged multiple pleas to seek yellowtail tomorrow will not be ignored. However mercy has it's limits. Never one to kick a gift horse in the teeth we'll give the tuna another go tomorrow to be sure. At least a little weather is headed our direction, courtesy of the rapidly dwindling, but still nothing to trifle with Tropical Storm Paine, so our options may be limited to somewhere tight against the lee side. Which of course is high on the list among beautiful features of this behemoth island. At twenty plus miles long rest one can rest assured that there is plenty of real estate here for protection. Photo today features long time Royal Star veteran Harold Brightenburg with a beautiful 138 that was a sucker for the timely fished chunk.

We managed to find a new area of fish and slowly scratched and pieced together a decent day of good grade yellowfin tuna. Same conditions and nice weather made an ejoyable day here for us. ......
