Gary Miralles

Shasta is 90 down, the surface is 43 degress. All BOAT LAUNCHES OPEN

The weather has been cold and fishing is slow. However some Nice Rainbows and Brown have been reported Trolling the McCloud Arm from Holiday Harbor to Hirtz Bay. Work the surface down to 75' Best techniques is troll 2 MPH with Kazi Minnows 2' behind 8" Sling Blades. Bend the back of the SB down 1/4" so it swings wide at the slower speed. This will cause the Kazi Minnow to rip and dart. Also run Cripplures in the Super Glow patterns Fire Tiger, Rainbow, or Red Head the Brass red or Crushed fire will work also. Another techniques try the upper Pitt Arm. Go to any feeder creek and toss Cripplures into the running water. Use a slow stop and go retreive. Make several cast and move on to the next Creek. The fishing will improve once the weather warms and the lake rises.

THE BITE IS ON.

Hit the water today 2/16/08 for the first time this year. Show Season!!. Ran up the McCloud arm to Hirtz Bay. Found the fish where the clear water mixed with the Murky water. This was right in front of the Boat launch. Worked a 1/2 mile area. the first fish a 16" spotted Bass on a paddle-tail Sling Blade combo. Next fish a beautiful 21" native Rainbow at Dekas Rock also on the Paddle Tail Clear Chartreuse Tail. Trolled back toward the Boat launch a caught 3 more Trout all on the Rainbow patern Kazi and 8" Sling Blade combo. Limited in 4 hours. Surprisingly no Browns but I know they were there, I saw some nice marks.

Good fishing!!!

Gary
