C.I. Yellows still biting! Cisco's Report for Friday

7-22-2016
Channel Islands Sportfishing

Yellowtail fishing is getting very good here at the Channel Islands! Seems no matter what boat you go on your chances of catching one are very good but it’s important to have fresh line and check your drags. Again, a high casualty rate cut the overall count short of what it could have been. Calico fishing is also outstanding now. Bring something you can cast a swimbait or live sardine or anchovy. The weather today at the local islands was good but the outer islands like Santa Rose and San Miguel were too windy so we do not have a report today nor will we have a report tomorrow from the overnight fleet. Fortunately, Sunday’s weather looks a lot better at the outer islands so expect a full count from both the inner and outer islands Sunday evening. Today’s Fish Count: 7 boats and 180 anglers. 409 Assorted Rockfish, 10 Sculpin, 8 Sheephead, 43 Ocean Whitefish, 50 Perch, 118 Calico Bass, 13 Barracuda, 40 Bonito, 5 White Seabass and 116 Yellowtail.
