Channel Islands Sportfishing

Lots of fish caught on this first day of the holiday weekend! Surface fishing for Calico’s has been getting better with each passing day whiles the Yellowtail and White Seabass still proving to be elusive. Bottom fishing for an assortment of Rockfish, Lingcod and Whitefish is on the rise though. We are starting to see good local counts on Lingcod and Ocean Whitefish at Anacapa Island. Everyone is ready to do it again tomorrow and believe it or not there is still a hand full of openings for the boats Sunday morning. On Monday the 4th the there is plenty of open spots for fishing. What better way to spend the holiday than with your friends and family catching fish before the big BBQ and fireworks show! Today’s Fish Count: 10 boats and 292 anglers. 1,889 Assorted Rockfish, 65 Ocean Whitefish, 12 Sheephead, 49 Lingcod, 13 Sculpin, 6 Barracuda, 10 Yellowtail, 1 White Seabass, 4 Halibut and 156 Calico Bass.
