Mike Lackey brought his Vagabond home to Pt. Loma Sportfishing November 21 after a good nine-day trip south with 22 anglers. The trip was unusual in that the jackpot, by agreement, included four species. Each winner got a new Pac Bay rod, wrapped by David Kane.
The tuna rod went to Dave Kane, for a 76-pound yellowfin tuna.
Jim Stein of Calimesa won a rod for a 56-pound wahoo. He wanted the wahoo rod, and so went with that fish instead of his 85-pound tuna, which he caught on a gold Raider on the sink. He used 50-pound Soft Steel Ultra line on a Torsa 30 reel and a Calstar 700 XH rod.
John Nielsen won a rod for his 32-pound yellowtail, and Ron LaFleur of Ft. Lauderdale, FL won a rod for a 31.8-pound dorado.
