Fishing in southern waters, skipper Bruce Smith of the Shogun gave the tip of the week when he wrote on November 14, "The surprise of the day was that we caught more wahoo on kelps today than dorado, strange. With these conditions (not many fish), I recommended not using a wire trace above the jig in hopes of getting more bites, but of course when some of the guys ended up losing their ten-dollar chrome Raiders they looked at me like I was crazy. Crazy? I don't know about that; all the wahoo that were landed today came in on straight mono tied to the lure."
