Good morning friends. We docked this morning at 0630 and unloaded from our three day adventure and our beautiful load of fish rode up to the dock in style with Fisherman's Landing brand new motorized cart pusher. FINALLY, no more pushing carts up the ramp, which can be very tricky at times. Big fish honors go as follows: Kathy Jungman took first place with her beautiful 40.8 lb. Yellowtail. Second place went to first timer David Recek for a 26.2 lber and a tie for third place with a pair of 25.4 lbers caught by Bethany "Gig 'em" Brill and Gary Byerley. Congratulations to all four anglers and with that, we prepare to shut down the Supreme until Monday when we depart on Paul Hess's annual five day trip. Thanks to our passengers on the trip and we'll chat with you on Monday.

Hi friends. We were unsuccessful in getting the squid to float last night so we motored back down to the hot area from yesterday and camped out for the remainder of the evening/morning. When we awoke and began fishing, it didn't take long for the Yellowtail to awaken from their rest as well. It was a pretty good pick there for a bit before it completely shut off and forced us to get mobile and do some looking around. Kathy Jungman had the standout fish of the day/trip with an estimated 35 lb. Yellowtail.

After a little moving around, we got settled into an area where some small Yellowtail and huge Calico Bass were ready and willing to attack anything we threw at them and we ended our day pulling on fish in tight to the kelp. In all seriousness, most of the Calico's we caught were bigger than the Yellow's, truly an awesome bass bite. Chef Schooler served up some awesome fish tacos and around 0100 hours, we had to call it a trip and boogie on up the line. We have deemed this trip a success and while everyone might not have a lunker Yellowtail, they had their shots and we caught plenty of other fish to send them home with some great table fare. With that said, the rods are bundled up, the boat is fresh and clean, and we're bouncing our way up the line in OK weather.

Another three day trip in the books and we're looking to arrive to Fisherman's Landing tomorrow at 0700 hours. We'd like to thank our fine passengers this trip for being a fun group to fish with and hopefully they'll be back with us in the future. We'll be taking our final break before our Summer season gets into full swing as we'll be off-line from the 13th until the 18th. We'll chat with you then.

Hi friends. The previous trip's reports goes pretty much how I would describe fishing for us today. However, there are a couple of notes I'd like to add. We found ourselves being in the correct spot at the correct time and our knowledge of the situation today aided greatly in our Yellowtail count. This area that we are fishing is giving up steady action to the first boat that correctly gets on a certain spot around first light. Today, that was us and this evening we will be guarding our little honey hole like "The Beast" guarded the signed Babe Ruth ball in the movie "The Sandlot". There are four other boats fishing with us and while we had a solid score, the others just scratched a day together, at best. No knock on the other boats but that's how it is down here. If we weren't in the correct spot when the bite time began, we'd be one of the four "scratch boats" and I'd be telling you about how the Polaris Supreme had a lame day of fishing. But that's not the case and our anglers were happily rewarded with quality sized Yellowtail and other various ground-fish. With that said, we'll monitor the situation throughout the night/early morning and hope that the trend of the past few days continues and we get the hot early morning hit.

On a tackle subject, we feel the need to share an observation of some tackle information. Maybe it's a coincidence but we think not but our hook to land ratio today was far greater than the ratio from last trip and we feel that one of the problems was circle hooks. Today, we were using J-hooks exclusively and we kept most of what we hooked using the standard J-hooks compared to a good percentage of the anglers from last trip using circle hooks. Listen, anglers can fish whatever types/brands of gear thatthey want when coming aboard but the Polaris Supreme staff most definitely recommends the traditional J-hook for every type of fishing that we do with one exception, cow tuna fishing. The proof was in the pudding today and once again, we had a good day on the Yellowtail grounds.

So that is all. Good fishing, good weather, and good people was the setup for today and we're looking for a repeat for tomorrow. With the offshore scene still slow, we'll give it our all for our last day of fishing tomorrow. Wish us luck.

Friday, July 1st, 2011 Good evening and happy July to everyone. After not capturing a seabass last night, we shot offshore to try our hand at the tuna game. Nothing to write home about other than a beautiful 20 lb. Yellowtail that we pulled off a kelp. All we can do is remain confident that in time, things will take shape and we'll be ready for those tunas' when they quit being pansies and show themselves. After more driving around we......
