Hi Gang,
Today was one of those days you hope for on the yellows at Cedros. We started the morning on the anchor and had steady action on the fly lined sardines and yo yo jigs. Again, the JRI KO6J heavy yo yo jig was working good. The guys that were fly lining sardines on 30 pound test, a short fluorocarbon leader and a 2/0 Mustad 94150 were bit almost every cast. After our early morning anchor job, we started looking around with the sonar and it didn't take long to locate another school. This is when the yellows really got aggressive. Yellowtail were up in the chum. chasing bait, backs out of the water chasing jigs, it was awesome. Jerry Guzman, and Tom Dragotto were fishing the surfing iron with good success. The JRI 4 in mint green was getting bit good. They would have numerous fish following their jigs before one would climb on. Super fun fishing. After an awesome morning of yellowtail fishing we started working up the island. On one of our stops, we had good calico bass action. A great way to end a great day. We started working north by the afternoon to get ourselves in position for some tuna later in the trip. Today's picture is of first time long ranger Steve Irwin from Jersey. Steve was getting bit on the fly lined sardine today.
