We started our season yesterday with a nice forecast but were run off the water with 25 knots of south wind an hour into fishing. We did pull crab gear with the first pot having 35+ crabs and easy limits for 3.

Today we whacked um good but had many more bites on the pacific halibut we missed. If they keep biting like this the rest of our may season it may be on track to rival 2 years ago insane halibut fishing with easy early limits for all. Our first halibut today was just short of 50 lbs and we managed limits for the other guys and even one for the captain by sticking with it. We pulled the crab gear on the way in for easy limits. Commercial crab will open next week so looks like Monday may be the last day I run a halibut crab combo. I have room next Monday for hali/crab combo and the following Friday the 13th for just halibut and that’s it for spots for may halibut. Still have some room for junes trips.
