East Walker River Fishing Report
4-17-2016
Jim Reid
The East is up to 72 cfs right now, the flows have changed several times this week which has made the fishing a little tougher at times. We've had very mixed reports this week, some anglers getting into several nice fish down there, both on the California side as well as the Nevada side, and some anglers getting zipped. It seems the successful anglers are still using mainly small midge and nymph patterns under an indicator as well as dry/dropper rigs with a big ugly on top and a small midge underneath. It's still important to be in stealth mode down there as the fish seem to be a bit spooky. Catching fish is certainly not automatic down there right now but if you're on your game you should be able to get into a few nice fish. Patterns that have been successful this week include: micro mayfly, flashback emerger, wd-40, zebra midge, miracle nymph, mercury midge, top secret midge, copper john, dark lord, rubber leg stimulator, foam dead stone, madam X and chubby chernobyl.
